Mini Card Preface: Everyone played well defensively on the night... and everyone played lousy offensively on the night. Seriously. I don't have a single thing bad to say about anyone defensively, nor a single good thing to say about anyone offensively. Both goals (third was an empty netter) were Blackburn's fault. Neither were terrible, but neither should've happened, either. Not that Blackburn played a bad game, I'd give him a "B" overall, which is a good grade in a losing game.

Um... so... how's your mother? Doing well? This will be a very dull report card. There's really nothing more to say other than what I just did.

COACHING STAFF: C For those keeping score at home, that's 2-0 under Jim Schoenfeld, 6-10-2 under Bryan Trottier. No, I don't think it mattered tonight who was behind the bench. I'm just trying to start trouble because I'm bored.
1st PERIOD: B Hmm. Shots in the period were 5-4 Canucks. Once again, that's five to four. Blackburn really didn't have to make a save the entire freakin' period, at least not one of any difficulty, and the Canucks had 3 full power plays. This is the Rangers, right? The team in blue?
2nd PERIOD: C You kinda knew this couldn't hold up. The Rangers are playing excellent defense, their defensive zone coverage has been almost flawless, but they haven't gotten a single thing going in the other end. Rangers were outshot a ridiculous 15-4 in the period but it still took a fluky bounce shot from the corner off the inside of one of Blackburn's legs for the goal.
3rd PERIOD: C Early 3rd period goal then an unsucessful PP by the Rangers about 10 minutes in really sealed the deal. Rangers finally remembered there are two ends of the ice this period and lived in the Vancouver zone for the final 10, but it was a bit too little, too late.
OVERALL: C- The French call it "ennui". Kind of a general dissatisfaction and boredom, but nothing really specific to complain about. That's tonight's game in a nutshell. Good defensively, inept offensively until the last 10 minutes. Nothing major to really to complain about, but nothing to be happy with, either.

So, um, how's your mother?

Scratches: Bobby Holik (hip), Dave Karpa (healthy? elbow?), K . Oliwa (suspension 3/5), Mike Richter (concussion)
