Hey Hawkeye.......we got another one over here for ya..... Seems like everytime I turn around yet another Ranger goes down to injury. While TSN is reporting a broken Poti foot (they did say possible) no one around here says anything other than a bruised foot. Go figure. Cory Cross has been hired to fill the holes left open by the Rangers injured D. A big guy, Cory didn't really impress in Tampa or Toronto but I heard a tale that he's in great shape and is eager to prove himself. We'll see. Newsday - He skated with the team at practice yesterday, but won't play against Montreal tomorrow night. Cross was sent to Hartford for a conditioning assignment, which usually lasts from one to two weeks. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Daily News - "I'm not a flashy player by any means," Cross said yesterday. "I'm just strong defensively and I'll let the offensive guys do their work." NY Post - "We needed that one. And I'm glad I could help," said Nedved, who ended the Rangers' five-game winless streak. "I've had some good chances the past few games, but wasn't able to finish. Sure it's frustrating, but you have to keep on pushing. NY Times - "I don't think they would have signed him if I wasn't here," said Fotiu. "Glen told me, `Give him a chance.' And he's done excellent for us. He'll be fine. I've seen a lot of people crazier than him that I've handled." Before his call-up, Tibbetts lived at Fotiu's home in Hartford. "He's stuck by me," Tibbetts said. Mattbarnaby.com - On a negative note, I came back to my car after the Chicago game and guess what? My car was demolished. Don't ask me how, but someone destroyed my Toyota Sequoia and they did it in a parking garage. I think someone hit accelerator instead of brake. I have a big truck and it was smashed. Broken glass, bumpers off, etc. The Sports Network - "It was exciting out there and to be honest with you, I was nervous," said Dunham. "This is Madison Square Garden and playing for the home team is a whole lot different than playing for the visiting team." ----}- Posted by Bird at December 18, 2002 09:30 AMeMail this entry! When Ted Nolan wasthe coach for the Buffalo Sabres, they were the hardest working team in the league. They had no stars but still made the playoffs. The day they got beatin the playoffs in Buffalo, all the fans stood up and applauded Ted Nolan and the team for such a thrilling year. I was there. He doesn't deserve what has happened to him. I wish he would come back to Buffalo as head coach. Sue, you are so right. My brother has been a Sabres fan from the early days of the French Connection. I have been watching this team since the 70's. Nolan is GREAT and he deserves the chance to come back to the NHL. Freakin Beureacratics!
