Rangers vs. Devils 3pm
Saturday - March 15, 2003
Todays game on ABC could be a great one. I don't want to start a panic but I don't like this game.....afternoon, on ABC against the Devs in a must win....could be ugly. I hope not, but you can understand why I'm thinking this way. Read the Rodent......you'll be glad you did. Newsday - Sather reiterated his belief, stated three weeks ago when the Messier-LaCouture-McCarthy fourth line was formed and played very well, that the Rangers need 12 forwards rolling to make the playoff run a success. "I wanted to see [Thursday] if we could get by [the Senators] with three lines," he said, "even though I still think we need four to win." I'm puzzled by that statement. If he thinks we need 4 lines to win, why in the hell would he try 3 against the Sens ? Daily News - In the latest stab at getting something out of Eric Lindros (and Alexei Kovalev) while searching for a niche for newcomer Anson Carter, Sather not only made profound changes to his line combinations at Ottawa but cut down from a four-line to a three-line rotation. "I knew there was a lot of risk to it," Sather said after the disoriented Rangers spent the entire night a step behind the long-coalesced Senators. Oh, I see.....he's a gambler. OK. Post - Desperation dogs both the Rangers and Devils this afternoon. One is getting it together almost too late, the other falling apart just when it begins to matter. Times - With 10 games remaining in the regular season, the Rangers, in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, cannot afford anything but victories. Faceoff.com - "The one thing that also hasn't been said, and I'm going to say it now, is that I'm not so certain that Anson was totally dedicated to the cause here in Edmonton either," Lowe said to Smith Journal News - Sadly, race relations within hockey are still in the news after former Rangers, Islanders and Devils goalie John Vanbiesbrouck resigned as coach and general manager of the Ontario Hockey League's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Monday after admitting he used a racial slur in describing captain Trevor Daley, who is black. Mike Ulmer talks about the Rangers.......again. Sportsnet on Gino Odjick - But the rugged life of a fighter has taken its toll. “I've had a few concussions now and if I get another one, I don't know if I can go through this again,” he said. “But I'm a hockey player. That's what I do. That's me. If I get a chance to play again, I'm certainly going to do it.” Dan Cloutier to the rescue.....not that the 'Nucks were that bad without him. Just not as good. "No sense steering now" - Doug McKenzie 10 games to play with 10 wins needed. You do the math. See you later. ----}- Posted by Bird at March 15, 2003 09:47 AMeMail this entry! Comments
