The Playoffs
Sunday - March 16, 2003
I don't want this to be an "I told you so" column, but I bring up the fact that I selected the Canucks as the team I'd be rooting for in this years playoffs a long time ago. If you had been paying attention, the writing was on the wall well before last night's loss at the swamps. You can't tell me that you are surprised about this. Come on.......it was going to take a miracle to get us in this year, and you knew that. So why get so pissed off now ? I know, it's the whole thing that's got you in a huff. Six long years with no playoff fun. Six years of being laughed at by fans of other teams. Six years of getting ripped by the media, other GMs.....everyone. Well, it's part of the deal. It's part of following the Rangers and it's part of being a New Yorker. And I think you knew that coming in, too. So stop acting as is this was some big rip-off that needs to be revenged. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about the end to this season. I became excited when Alex and Anson came here. I was surprised at Sather doing well behind the bench. My eyes lit up when Leetch and Bure and Holik came back from injuries. I got hooked, yet again. I thought that they could possibly pull it off. But they didn't. No amount of complaining or whining is going to change that. So lighten up a little. Watch the news.....our men and women in uniform are putting their lives on the line.....a bit more important in the big picture no ? And the playoffs get played with or without us.....so we do get to watch. So pick a team and have some fun. Watch what it takes to move on. See for yourself all the greatness of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. All throughout keep thinking how cool it would be if we were in it. Who knows, perhaps next spring.....we really are in. Now wouldn't that be fun ? ----}- Posted by Bird at March 16, 2003 02:44 PMeMail this entry! Comments
