Despite the fact that it appeared that the Leafs layed down in their game seven, the other two games were fun to watch. The Minnasota Wild went into Colorado and forced overtime.......and then won in overtime. Sweet. And, Vancouver won at home to finish off the Blues. Not a bad night of hockey at all.
While I think the Leafs could have had a better chance had they been given a day of rest, the fact that they had to play back to back exposed them for not having the depth that the Flyers have. Running on fumes, the Leafs never had a chance. Belfour was not able to come up big, quite the opposite....he was kinda bad. Toronto fans must be going nuts right now.
In the only overtime of the night.......the unlikely happened. It was Wild. After taking a 2-1 lead, late in the third, the Avs looked like they might just survive. The ESPN commentators were polishing off their tributes to Sakic and Roy and Blake at the same time the Wild were looking to tie.....and they did just that. Anything can happen in OT.....and it did. Bye Bye Avs.......see ya next year.
The only game I had any emotional investment in was the Blues - 'Nucks game. This was a very physical game from the opening faceoff. After failing to hug the post, Cloutier gave up what would be the only Blues goal only one minute in. Dan then settled in and played a solid game. Vancouver then punnished the Blues with some ferocious hits, eventually leading to some scoring opportunities. Osgood tried, but was unable to stop the 'Nucks from advancing on to round two. Yet another playoff disappointment for St. Louis fans.
Are you still pissed that the Rangers didn't get Jagr a few summers ago ? Have no fear, he may now be available. While I think Jagr would be a bad move as he disappears in games....big ones, look for him to be connected to the Rangers at some point over the summer.

I'd heard the Federov rumours elsewhere. This makes the rumour of Lindros being bought out all the better -- I'd take Mr. Long-haired Russian Freak Boy any day over Erica "Puddin' Head" Lindros.
