Trouble In Toronto
Thursday - May 08, 2003
Slam has an article that tries to explain what may be occurring in the next few days in Leafs land. I admit that I don't follow the inner workings of the Leafs so I was a bit surprised to read about the strange set up in place there. This article suggests that Dryden spoke to Craig MacTavish about coaching the Leafs.......but Quinn is the GM/coach.....right ? Add to that piece, the faxing of his retirement from the Leafs by Robert Svehla. Toronto fans must be feeling it about now. The frustration there has got to be growing. That got me to thinking about the strange things that happen here in NY. It's been awfully quite despite the fact that no coach or staff has been named and a seventh year watching instead of playing in the playoffs is out of the question. So why so quiet ? No, news about Garth Murray's surgery success is not what I mean. Larry Brooks had some words on Robinson or Mac T as a possible coach....and we did get the Lindros trade rumor....but that's been it. Don't misunderstand me here. I'm not demanding any sort of action from MSG...I'm just wondering out loud about what may be happening behind the scenes, what the thinking is.....and why for the moment, there seems to be no urgency to grab the back pages of NY's papers. Our buddy.....Lord Perth reminded me about the Panther's interest in Luc Robitaille.......ha ha ha. Yeah....there's a good fit. Back to Canada for a sec.....seems the current Prime Minister, Jean Chretien would rather watch hockey than some boring political debate.....me too. Enjoy tonight's game seven. It does present an opportunity for a great night of hockey. Go 'Nucks ! ----}- Posted by Bird at May 08, 2003 12:37 PMeMail this entry! Comments
bird, Robataille on the Panthers IS a great fit, it means that he won't be coming to the rangers. Posted by: yossarian on May 8, 2003 05:02 PMPost a comment
