Spezza To The Rescue
Tuesday - May 20, 2003
How about that. The kid can't crack the line up this year and with the Sens facing elimination, he gets the call to play in his first NHL playoff game. The kid delivers an assist on the game winner and scores the insurance goal to help keep Ottawa alive. Spezza must be feeling pretty good right now. What I would give to be in his skates....with his skill at his age. You think he'll play in game six ? The pre-game speech for the Sens came from Roger Neilson, sitting in a chair and fighting two forms of cancer. The Hockeybird staff wishes Roger well and sends out thoughts and prayers for 'Captain Video', a former Rangers head coach. The Rangers have decided not to offer Alexei Kovalev a long term deal this coming season. The Daily News suggests that this will give the talented winger reason to sulk and not play well.....I say that's BS. A one year deal would give Alex incentive to have a monster year....making his next contract more valuable. Dominik Hasek is a roller hockey goon ! Not playing in net, but rather as a skater....Hasek took issue with a player and then delivered nasty crosschecks sending the player to the hospital. A good lawyer could extract a lot of bucks on a case like this. The Canadian Hockey Association has changed their mind and have raised the age of the checking leagues to 11 yr olds. It had been dropped to 9 yr olds. I have been a bit busy at home readying the Hockeybird House for guests that will come to Christen my daughter, Juliana. because of that I somehow forgot to check the Rodent's page. Silly me......as he's released a three part must read article on why the NHL can not blame the Rangers for escalating salaries. Damn.....that Rodent guy is good.....realGood. ----}- Posted by Bird at May 20, 2003 11:16 AMeMail this entry! Comments
