All The Marbles
Friday - May 23, 2003

All eyes of the hockey world will focus on the rink in Ottawa tonight, the winner will likely be the fave to win the cup as the Ducks surprising playoff run is expected to end without a championship. Both the Devs and Sens have more talent......although the same could be said about the three prior opponents the Ducks eliminated.....and we know what happened to them.

Jersey Jealousy ? Well, it has to suck living in the shadow of the worlds greatest city. Yes, I really believe that New York City is worthy of the title. No offence to the other great cities world wide.....but NYC really has it all. Well, except a hockey club or hoops team that makes the playoffs. Jersey has both. The Nets and Devils could both be in the finals and still, there remains good seats to see them play live, a point not lost on fans of the NYC teams. Sure, we're jealous of the success of the Devils and Nets as our guys spend time fishing. So we have nothing better to do than point out those empty seats.

Here's to a return of post season play for our NY Rangers. Maybe then we'll stop worrying about how many people go see the Devs or the Nets and focus on more important things like winning. Wouldn't that be something........

NYR.com - “The key here is patience, which can be a lost commodity in the National Hockey League. But it will pay off as Glen Sather's approach is clearly one that sees us hanging on to our prospects as much as we possibly can.”

Slam - "I'd rather play golf than hockey," Hull told the Austin American-Statesman. "I just love the game. I love the challenge. It's my favourite sport."

Malakov had his shoulder repaired yesterday....he should be ready for camp.

Former Ranger Stan Neckar was celebrating the birth of his son but learned that it's not good to drink and drive. I'd hope that Hockeybird readers are careful this weekend as here in the US we are celebrating a holiday.....and remembering those who fought and died for this country.

Stan Fischler and his note and quotes thingee can be found here.

Stock up on some good beer for tonight. This should be fun. Well, as fun as it can get when you're on the outside looking in.

Anybody seen Uncle Larry ? We seem to have lost touch with him.
