Jumping The Gun
Thursday - June 05, 2003

So yesterday I erroneously posted about game five being played last night instead of tonight....sorry, I owe you a beer. Speaking of which, I'm out. This must be corrected before tonight's game and I aim to do so. Any good suggestions on what tonights beer should be....send 'em here.

We are still wondering why Mr. Larry Brooks has not contacted us and finished our interview. Did we piss him off ? Well sure, that's very possible. But I'd like to think he'd send us a note saying as much. Or, it's possible that's he's just too busy.....he could have said that too.

We also await the return of ESPN's John Buccigross who has just a few more questions to answer before we can post our second interview with the Star of NHL2Night.

In addition, we have been lucky enough to be put in contact with a pro scout. One of our messageboard members (who suffers from insecurity) "greatone" hooked us up and we await his response to our questions. It should be fun to hear from a scout as this years NHL draft is but a few days away.

Guy Lafleur heard the chants of "Guy...Guy..." yet again. Funny how I had just mentioned that the other day.

The Isles new head coach was intro'd yesterday. In his first public comments as head coach he told reporters that he won't be interviewing with Chris Russo of WFAN and that he still doesn't know what a "soundtiger" is.

OK, I made that up.

Newsday - Milbury didn't take well to the suggestion that he opted for Stirling because Milbury, a former coach, wanted a "yes man" in that position.

Daily News - "I like to think I walk softly and carry a big stick, and I will do that," Stirling said. "But I can't come in and be someone I'm not. I can't come in and be Mike Keenan. That's not my style. I have to come in and be myself, which is what I plan to do."

Slam - "We ruled that what Dominik Hasek did was an unsportsmanlike conduct," said Ladislav Kopec, the president of the Czech Inline Hockey Association.

Ted Nolan could not be reached for comment.

The behind the scenes trouble continues in Toronto. Allow me to pause and wipe away a tear.......OK, I'm done.

The Rodent talks......um, baseball today. Yup, the bucktoothed furry one has a column on the Sosa incident.
