Getting Ready To Travel
Sunday - June 22, 2003

I'll be packing today as I'm taking the family to the Tampa area for a few days of rest, food and beer. My wife can have the rest....the kids can have the food. I'll take the beer, thank you.

As usual, when I'm away.....big stuff will happen. A new coach, a trade....it'll happen. Maybe Chris will pop in with some links if I can't.

Newsday - "It's the thing I pretty much dreamed of and hoped for ... When you're playing street hockey in your back yard, you think about what it would be like to play alongside guys like Mark Messier and Alexei Kovalev. I never could have asked for more."

More Newsday - The Jagr-to-the-Rangers rumor, reheated and rehashed for weeks now, reared again yesterday only to be shot down by general manager Glen Sather.

OK, I'm going to give you the link....but I warn you, this article is like nails on a chalkboard. Look at the picture of the writer and ask yourself.....does this woman qualify to get you your hockey news ? I didn't think so.

Post - "This is probably one of the greatest days of my life," Jessiman said, wearing a Rangers sweater with his name stitched across the back. "I've been a New York fan all my life."

Larry Post - The Rangers were offered Jagr midway through last season. They were offered him again at the trade deadline. They have been offered him again and again over the last month. Those are the facts. Beyond that, it's wishful thinking in DC.

NY Times - "I'm going to talk to a few more people," said Sather, who interviewed Larry Robinson on Wednesday in Toronto. Sather is here for Saturday's National Hockey League entry draft. "There's no deadline on something like this. We already have a coach. If I can find somebody I think can do a better job than me, I'll turn it over to them."

More Times - "Who'd want him?" said Bob Clarke, the general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers. "He's making $11 million the next five years."

Maybe we'll see some more trade action today....maybe not.
