What if they had a free agent party......and nobody showed up ? While I'm convinced that the owners as a group have decided to keep the spending down (read collusion), I shed no tears for these players who have made tons of money up until now. Even our own Brian Leetch made 9.3 million bucks last year. Those days are over. That much is clear. What isn't clear is who will sign where and for how much ?
Newsday - An NHL source said yesterday that Marchant's representative asked the Rangers for a six-year, $24-million contract. Marchant, 29, earned $1.54 million last season.
Daily News - While it is an extreme longshot, the Daily News has learned that Islanders brass is discussing the possibility of taking a run at signing free agent Brian Leetch.
