A Diversion
Wednesday - July 09, 2003
I know most of you come here looking for news on the NY Rangers or at least some decent links to hockey news. We'll give you that even though at this point, there's not much in the way of real Ranger news to report. Lots of speculation by the local beat writers.....nothing solid. Don't look so surprised. They rarely have much solid stuff during the season. However, I got the chance to revisit my musical roots and interviewed Artimus Pyle who was the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd. He still plays with his band APB and loves to talk about his former band. Why not kill some time and get some inside stuff on one of the all-time great bands. We even talked a little hockey. Or.....you could just visit the Rodent who examines the failues of Ranger signees. Interesting stuff. Newsday has a collection of images from their back pages on the Rangers from this past season. Daily News - First, Eric Lindros would probably be dealt to Detroit for Joseph, alleviating the Rangers' overcrowding at center. Second, presuming they could subsequently deal the cheaper Dunham to Boston, the Rangers might be able to get a versatile forward such as Brian Rolston who could fill a crying need. NY Post - While the Rangers are keeping their pulse on the situation, it's probably more accurate to depict the Blueshirts as bystanders in the pursuit of Sergei Fedorov. Stan Fischler - Glen Sather keeps coming back to two words, "crazy mistakes," in discussing his club's homestretch demise. Thus, you can expect an accent on offense-defense accountability on the Blueshirts. Slats also points out that his wife, Ann, supports his decision to coach. Ann has a wonderful line about The Game: "There are two things in hockey -- winning and misery!" Things could get ugly in Montreal.....new info on the Theodore loan shark ring. Slam - A onetime Flames scout based out of Boston has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a boy who attended a hockey camp he ran there. Fly on proud bird, you're free at last. - Charlie Daniels ----}- Posted by Bird at July 09, 2003 11:27 AMeMail this entry! Comments
