Rumors Galore, Nothing Solid
Saturday - July 12, 2003
A number of you sent in the links on the possible signing of Greg de Vries. I'm hoping the published numbers are off.....but it does seem likely at this point that Greg dons a Ranger sweater this coming season. I don't know much about this guy....except he played with some great players in Colorado.....and that Colorado decided it was OK to let him go. Fact or Fiction looks at a bunch or the rumors floating around. Daily News - Pending a physical and some contractual final touches - and barring a can't-refuse offer from another team that doesn't appear likely - de Vries will sign with the Rangers early next week. NY Post - Multiple sources have told The Post that GM Bob Clarke has asked a small circle of high-priced players under contract to agree to defer a portion of 2003-04 salary so that, according to one of these Flyers, the team can clear payroll to sign Leetch. Oh crap. Is this Larry putting presure on Slats to sign Leetch and get it over with or are these rumors true ? NY Times - Should the Rangers re-sign Brian Leetch as expected, the Rangers' defense for next season would also include Tom Poti, Vladimir Malakhov, Kasparaitis, Dale Purinton and Ales Pisa. That might not leave room for Boris Mironov, an unrestricted free agent, who was steady for the Rangers after they acquired him from Chicago in January. More later ----}- Bird Posted by Bird at July 12, 2003 10:18 AMeMail this entry! Comments
