Farm Sounds
Sunday - August 17, 2003

I had no intention of doing an update today as I was sure there would be nothing to talk about. However, since Heather worked hard on getting out her lastest On The Farm I felt I owed it to her to at least let you guys know it's out.

Mike Peca Sells Pickles

pickles

Islander Captain Mike Peca is getting ready for the NHL blackout. He can perhaps rely on the sale of his pickles to keep his family fed. Peca's Impeccable Pickles.....Mmmmm. I for one will not be eating those....I'm sure they are good.....but I just don't feel right about it. I don't like the sound of "eating Peca's Pickle". I would go on....but I'm fresh out of pickle jokes.

Daily News - Mario Lemieux was at the service. So were representatives from just about every team Brooks ever played on or coached, dating to the 1955 Minnesota state champion team from Johnson High School. Nick Fotiu represented the Rangers of 1981-85, Brooks' first NHL coaching stop.

NY Post - After the Oilers, who dethroned the Islanders in the finals, the Rangers were the third-best team in the NHL in 1984; they just didn't have the extended opportunity to prove it. Brooks was fired the following January.

NY Times - "Here I am, 48 years old," Eruzione said, "and whenever Herb called the house, I was afraid I'd done something wrong. I can just imagine what's going on upstairs. Herbie's talking to God: `I don't like the style of your team. We're going to make a few changes.' "

TSN - If the Detroit Red Wings were to work out a deal to send Curtis Joseph to Boston, it seems the veteran goaltender would not object.

Happy Birthday Mom......I miss you.
