Hockeybird.com: Price To Pay

That statement has a few different meanings. Let me explain. You all know they are a small market team and don't have the bucks to compete with the Rangers, Toronto, Detroit....for the big free agents. As a result, they have young, hungry players who hope to succeed at the NHL level and at some point cash in later. They are not playing in Edmonton and collecting big paychecks. But during the time they are Oilers, they play as hard as they can. If you've watched them play that's evident.

But the statement is one I admire as it translates into a mindset that is needed to win the Cup, and that has been an ingredient missing on our NY Rangers. I'd love for that mindset to be adopted here.....sacrifice for the good of the team. Hey, I can dream can't I ?

The article also addresses the Messier issue. It appears that if Moose does play his 25th year, it'll be here at MSG. You'd think that Mark was well versed in the 'paying the price' concept. Let's see if that is still part of who he is.

There is little if any other hockey news so I wanna take a turn if I may. This morning on my way into work I popped on the Howard Stern Show. I've since been told it was a 'best of' broadcast. They had Artimus Pyle who was the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd on the phone. As they discussed the wild stuff this guy has had to deal with I thought some of you who heard that may want to know more about what Howard and Artimus were discussing. So, here's the interview I did with Artimus on June 10th, 2003. We covered all the things that were mentioned on Howard's show....but in much greater detail. We covered a lot of other issues as well.

Im sorry to be so crass, but Mess is such a dick for not saying he's coming back or not. This guy is shot, has been shot since Neil Smith let him go and can no longer contribute to anything but the country club atmosphere. Yet has the balls to keep everyone waiting for him? And for what? The right to pay him 4MM to waterski off the back of forwards who have just picked his pocket and toasted him down the ice? The right to watch him grind a fluid PP to a standstill? The right to watch him demand his prominant role on the team and have his locker room BS fall on deaf ears as Holik laughs at the pot calling the kettle black? So we can watch Mess play one half of one zone only to get the next day of practice "off" to rest, taking Leetch with him while the rest of the team practices and wonders why the captain is sitting on his ancient ass sucking down Geritol and Smoothies?

WHY!!!!!????
