The News At Noon
Tuesday - September 09, 2003
Sorry for the delay folks -- I only just realized that I had been given the call up this minute. Our friend the Rodent has been busy with new columns discussing the injuries to both Leetch and Blackburn. If you're feeling depressed about the injury jinx kicking in before the season even starts, read the Rodent, as he will set your mind at ease. All of the major news outlets are weighing in on the Leetch injury including ESPN, Newsday, The Star Ledger, The Post, and The New York Times. Blackburn only merits a mention in each of the articles above. Buried in the notes of that Star Ledger article is the fact that the Rangers agreed to terms with Harvard forward Dominic More yesterday. Moore was a 3rd round pick in the 2000 draft and was named a 2003 Ice Hockey All-American for his strong play at Harvard. The Times article speculates that Leetch and Messier may share a hive mind, noting that Messier held out on resigning with the Rangers until they had come to terms with Leetch and offering as further evidence the following alarming Messier-like statement uttered by Leetch. When asked how long he intended to keep playing Leetch replied, "As long as I can. If I'm healthy, I'd like to play until they say I can't play anymore." In other words, we can expect to be sitting on the edges of our seats come August 2013 waiting for Leetch to make a decision whether to hang up the skates or play "one more season." In more exciting news, the season is rapidly approaching. Tickets go on sale today and the Ranger's main site has a training camp preview including a full training camp roster. Training camp begins on Friday and at least 4 message board regulars will be in attendance for the Saturdayand Sunday sessions. If you're planning on coming up, post to the relevant thread on the boards with details. -- Rightbug Posted by Cliff at September 09, 2003 01:01 PMeMail this entry! Comments
