Rangers Win!
Tuesday - September 16, 2003

Of course, the Rangers also lost. But really, in the Red/Bue Scrimage, there are no losers, only teams that don't win. Here's the official recap of the Blue Team's victory over the White Team.

I was happy to see that Anson Carter and Jan Hlvac both had multiple point games as, after watching them at camp, I thought they could go either way. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Regained confidence and what not. Carter had a goal and an assist while Hlavac had two assists. Other multiple point scorers in the 3-2 game included Nedved and Mironov with a goal and an assist a piece, and Lindros with two assists. Poti and Messier each picked up a goal. Simon and Rucinski each picked up an assist. I like this team.

Meanwhile, in The Post, Larry Brooks tells you what you already know if you read the boards -- Fedor Tjutin has been mostly invisible during training. Of course, he has nice quotes from Tom Renney: "At our [rookie] camp in Calgary, Fedor was one of the real bright spots - he played very well, he mixed very well with the guys - but he hasn't followed up on that since we've been in Vermont," said Tom Renney. "We were ecstatic with him in every way, with his maturation off the ice, his ability to communicate and the way he played. Here though, he's been vanilla."

And speaking of Tom Renney, The Daily News reports that we have him to thank for the Rangers' systems first approach at training camp this season. Why did it take so long to actually implement a system, any system? "I guess that's a question you'd have to ask the past couple of coaching staffs," Renney said. I guess those other coaches have not been reading Hockeybird the way that Tom Renney does.

The Star Ledger has moore on More. Or rather, more on Moore. "Moore, 6-0, 194 pounds, has been one of the best-prepared young players at camp. He has handled the upgrade in skill and speed from the college game, and has not looked out of place during drills and scrimmages."

The New York Times reports that Glen Sather think Hugh Jessiman is insane:

"'I think it's crazy he's not in this camp,' Glen Sather, the Rangers' president, general manager and head coach, said Sunday... 'I think he's making a mistake not being here.'" Hmmm... And I thought the organization was behind his decision to return to school.

Newsday likes seeing Lundmark on the 3rd line with Bobby Holik and you know what? I agree with them.

Moore later,

Cliff, you communist. You're obviously trying to silence the voice of dissension by failing to mention the newest pro-Messier article available at Between Periods.

Truth will not be silenced, Cliff. She sings loudly, like Christina Aguilera. This revolution WILL BE televised. All hail the truth and Christina Aguilera!
