A Very Special Team
Tuesday - September 23, 2003
For those of you who haven't already seen it, the Rangers cut six more players from the roster yesterday. The full skinny can be found on their official site. There are some surprises here such as Scott, Tjutin and Nycholat all staying with New York for now. Then again, seeing as how none but a fortunate few of us were able to actually see any of the games thus far, I suppose nothing should come as a surprise. The Star Ledger reports on the cuts and sucker punches us with this quote: "Jamie Lundmark and Bobby Holik played together on the same line in two of the three games on the trip, but Sather called it a 'definite possibility' that he might switch Lundmark to right wing on Eric Lindros' line and move Anson Carter down to the right side on Holik's line." I keep waiting for Carter to come alive. If he were moved to Holik's wing, he could play a low key checking game until he did. If Lundmark clicks with Lindros and Carter suddenly comes alive with Holik a month from now... Sorry -- I'm day dreaming. It's early yet. Meanwhile, the Post also discusses the Holik line. Brooks' take is that this is a move to utilize Holik in the role for which he was originally obtained, which is true, but The Rodent sees this as a sign that Carter is not clicking with Lindros. They're both right! This being autumn, Rodent is busy hoarding nuts. Nuts in the form of payment for two articles in one day! In an article from yesterday afternoon, Rodent advocates putting Lindros on a line with Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich. Newsday informs us that Kovalev may well take the short bus all the way to the playoffs. According to Nedved, "He's a special player." It kind of warms the heart when you think about it. Okay -- stop thinking about that. John Dellapina at The Daily News is bringing us down with talk of bumps in the road. Among the words appearing in this article: obliteration, discipline, major trouble, painful, brunt, bruised, loss and, uncertain. Come on John -- get on the playoff short bus! It's going to be a very special season. The Journal News proposes a radical new theory that our special teams could possibly use some work. I don't know... Well, it's crazy enough that it might just help! More news later? Perhaps. We shall see what the day brings. I'm going to go grab a cigarette before work starts. The healthier amongst you might prefer to download this important new Windows patch! (And for the love of all that is good -- please do not download random patches that you receive in email.) "John Dellapina at The Post" ??????? You getting to be very much like me. I think of that as a good thing. ----}- Posted by: Bird on September 23, 2003 10:57 AMHey it's better then being Larry Brooks now isn't it? lol Posted by: Jim on September 23, 2003 11:46 AMWhile Gary Oldman is pretty bad ass, the thought of Milla playing out there was a far prettier thing. And hey, Lalu good throw a monster body check, I'm sure. Posted by: Rightbug on September 24, 2003 08:43 AMPost a comment
