A Must Win In Game #3?!
Thursday - October 16, 2003
Sure feels like it, doesn't it? Combine the past six campaigns with the miserable season opening losses in St. Paul and Columbus and there doesn't seem to be a single Ranger fan out there who isn't discouraged right now. And who could blame us? "Won't get fooled again," and all that. A solid home opening win tonight against a tough Atlanta team - a team they lost to all four times last season (once in OT) - would go towards helping that situation, obviously. Duh. Brilliant assessment, Pete. And after reading this NY Post article, I feel a little better about their chances tonight. Apparently, Sather tore the paint off the walls and threatened demotions to Hartford in a team meeting on Sunday. Sather: "You're leaving me no [blanking] choice! I'm not going to stand for this!" Kasparaitis: "If we lose, I don't know what will happen. I don't want to know what will happen if we lose." If you only read one article today, read that one. Both the Daily News and NY Times talk about Lindros and the fans who boo him. Oh mercy, is this topic ever getting tiring already. The Star-Ledger mentions the problems the Rangers had with the Thrashers last season. For the second consecutive day Newsday doesn't have a Ranger article, at least not on their webpage. Screw 'em. Hey, I hear there's a baseball game tonight? But of course there is, the cataclysmic Game 7 of the Red Sox/Yankees series. First pitch isn't until 8:18PM, so if you're more interested in the baseball game, you should be able to catch about an uninterupted period and a half of the Rangers before picking up your remote. Speaking of baseball, any time you want to ham it up on how much the Rangers have tortured you and made you suffer, just remember how bad it must be to be a Cubs fan. Our "suffering" is laughable in comparison. Check back for the Report Card and (I assume) Rodent recap after the game tonight. - Rocha Posted by pete at October 16, 2003 05:06 AMeMail this entry!
