Rangers vs. Panthers
Monday - October 20, 2003

Mike Keenan

ratboy
Will tonight be the night that the Rangers get their first win ? It could be.....hell, it should be. Mike Keenan and his Panthers are in town. Two points are up for grabs....who wants 'em ?

Newsday didn't bother to post an article today.....guess they have lost interest.

The Daily News speaks on Mike Dunham......and then they have this, "Panthers recently called up forward Gregory Campbell, son of former Rangers coach Colin Campbell."

NY Post - Here's what we're sure of: There's nothing going on with this group as currently assembled. There's nothing going on between Eric Lindros and Anson Carter, who, through four games together this year and five at the end of last season have yet to combine on a single scoring play. Here's what we're sure of, too: as long as Sather is committed to giving Mark Messier upwards of 13 minutes a night, it is impossible for the team to, a) match lines; or, b) give Lindros and Bobby Holik the minutes they require to assert themselves.

The Times also took the day off on Ranger coverage.....so we go to the Journal News for this - "I think we can use it in a good way," left wing Chris Simon said after yesterday's optional skate at the Madison Square Garden Training Center. "Not playing every other night right away gets our bodies used to the beating we take out there. It's nice to get into a routine, but right at the start of the season, if you play a few games, then you can work on things, especially since we're learning the new system and building chemistry among the lines."

Star-Ledger - "It was more enjoyable before," Kovalev said. "I'm not saying that one of us is doing something wrong -- we're all responsible for it. In the preseason, we seemed more comfortable. We knew where each of us was going to be on the ice, we were making blind passes to each other that worked, and we were always around the net."

Atlanta is in first place.....that's right.

This one is a few days old....but Slam doesn't miss a chance to give it to the Rangers.
