Phreaking Philly
Saturday - November 08, 2003

There are few match ups that get me going the way a Rangers - Flyers game does. IMO, These games should never be played during the day.....the day should be used for that slightly nervous feeling of anticipation....building and building until finally at 7:30pm it happens. I know, the night games start at 7 now....but that's for another rant.

So today at 1pm the hated Flyers come to town....let's see what the locals have to say about it.

Newsday - Lundmark is sure to be on Lindros' right, but Dominic Moore, who has played only center in college and his short pro career, could shift to the left and leave LaCouture the odd man out.

Daily News - The Rangers will rely on the return of their No. 1 goaltender and a top forward to get them back on track today.

NY Post - Holik between Lindros and Martin Rucinsky; Petr Nedved between Alex Kovalev on the right and Matt Barnaby on the left; Mark Messier with Chris Simon on the left and Anson Carter on the right; Jamie Lundmark centering Dan LaCouture on the right and Dale Purinton on the left. Under this alignment, Jan Hlavac and Dominic Moore will sit.

Also noted in Larry's article today is this - * The league has rescinded Chris Simon's Oct. 30 major for boarding Carolina's Erik Cole. It marks the second time that a Simon major has been nullified by Andy Van Hellemond, the director of NHL officiating; the first was for elbowing Florida's Andreas Lilja on Oct. 20.

Journal News - "All the teams in the division, the Devils, Philly, we like to beat so we can get in their heads and psyche them out,'' Poti said. "We'll face them in the playoffs eventually anyway so it sets the tone.''

Did he say playoffs ? Either:
A) Mr. Poti is confident that we make the playoffs.
B) He said eventually meaning that at some point in this decade we make the playoffs or.......
C) Tom is still a very, very sick man.

Star-Ledger - "What can I say? Nothing," Hlavac said at the time. "I was expecting to have many goals by now, and I don't. I want to be able to help the team. I just don't score."

The Philladelphia Inquirer says that Hacket will start even though Esche has been the hot keeper. How strange to see a goalie controversy in Philly.

Just because we can......here's a little inside info on a possible Jagr trade in the works.

More after the game
