LINDROS' EYE -- STOP
Friday - November 14, 2003
BIG RUSH TODAY -- STOP -- MRKTING MEETING IN 15 MIN -- STOP -- NEWS IN BRIEF -- END Enough of that. As the Rangers look to do battle against the great Satan on Saturday, lets take a quick look at news and notes in Ranger land. Leedsy -- fantasy column. Insightful overview. Funny. Go read. Laugh. Gabe's Fact or Fiction -- Youth movement constipated under Sather. Fact? Fiction? Debate. The Daily News -- Lindros' eye problem is not that bad. Likely won't play against Devils. The Star Ledger -- Lindros' eye problem is not that bad. May play against Devils. Going back to the Daily News for a moment -- Interesting notes: Rangers did try to claim Jason Wiemer from The Fishsticks but The Wild had higher waiver priority. Also, Ortmeyer's been called up for Saturday's game while Moore is being sent down. Healy is off IR and has been sent down to Hartford. Newsday -- Lindros' eye problem not that bad. Also, scary Sather quote: Where his forwards play should make no difference, according to Sather, who said, "All the lines should be interchangeable." The Post -- Lindros' Eye Problem not that bad. He has blood in it. Nasty. Brooks also reads too much into Sather's sending down of Moore, in my opinion. Noting that Sather commented that Moore could compete against Edmonton, Brooks sees Moore's return to Hartford as a sign that Sather does not believe he can compete against the Devils. That's a pessimistic leap of logic in my opinion. Debate again. OK, as a Devs fan Sather's comments are starting to remind me a little of NJ philosophy (ie - all forwards should be interchangeable). Actually it's not true, it's Colin Campbell's attempt at a description of NJ philosophy, because NJ forwards are not completely interchangeable. Certainly you could not ask Gomez to do Madden's job. But the point is that there is no 1st line and no 4th line and you can, for the most part, mix the forwards up and nobody is out of place. Anyway, what has Sather been doing, staying up and watching old Lou Lamoriello interviews? If so, he must have been drinking some pretty strong coffee to stay awake. I love Uncle Louie for bringing the Cups to NJ but he's not exactly a dynamic interview. =) Posted by: suenj97 on November 14, 2003 11:21 AMyou can't ask gomez to do madden's job as well as madden does, but the point is that all the devils know the system so well that if madden got hurt you could get someone to step into that spot and the team would lose little because everything is about the system Posted by: Leetch3 on November 14, 2003 01:55 PMBoy, Sue....you spend a lot of time on Ranger sites for a Devils fan. You are always welcome here BTW....and not that I speak for the Rodent but I'm sure he'd say the same thing. I hope you enjoy tomorrows game and don't think less of me when I say...LET'S GO RANGERS ! As for the interchangeable part theory.....hey, it works. You'll find few who hope to emulate failure....many who emulate success. It's a compliment. ----}- Posted by: Bird on November 14, 2003 02:02 PMI think what sather meant was that the centers and wingers all play the same role after the faceoff. I remember hearing/reading carter saying that. Posted by: yossarian on November 14, 2003 07:14 PMOrtmeyer called up!!! Woo hoo, finally one from Nebraska! Yay! Go Rangers!!!
