Go West Young Man
Monday - December 29, 2003

The NY Rangers begin a road trip out west in the deserts of Arizona. From where I'm sitting this looks to be a huge trip. Here in south Fla. there are a lot of hockey fans from all over North America.....I have been hanging with a dude from Philly and met several people from Montreal and Toronto. As I talk hockey with them it has become painfully obvious that the Rangers can no longer be defended......you are what your record says you are. They are not a team that is feared by the fans of it's opponents. Quite the opposite.....they are looked at as easy prey. Since I arrived here in Fla. I have been forced to concede. We really do suck.

Tonight at the Home Depot center, the Panthers take on the Leafs. If you bring your loonies you can use them to buy tickets to the game. That's proof of the huge amount of Canadians who are in the area. If I go tonight I'll be rooting for the home team.....but drinking with hosers from the Great White North.

The Rodent follows the money trail.

The Post talks about the powerless play.

The Daily News tells us that this trip is important. Thanks, John.

The Star-Ledger tells us that the Rangers as a group have the flu. If watching tonight makes you sick.....now you know why.

Don't forget to visit the Blue Line weblog....the brothers there do a great job of keeping you in the know.

Newsday tells us a bit about the Lindros-Simon-Barnaby line. They like long walks on the beach, moonlit nights and expect a phone call the morning after. Kissing on the first date is OK, but don't expect much more.

In the NY Times, Captain Messier becomes Captain Obvious, "Our next game is more important than the last, and that's the way it's going to be until the end of the year," Messier said after the Rangers practiced here before opening a four-game trip against Phoenix, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

The U.S. kids have yet to give up a single goal at the world junior championships. So far so good, eh ?

Before I put my foot in my mouth and predict a big win tonight (whoops....I guess I just did) The Wings looked like an old, overpaid, underachieving team last night against the Hawks.

So....I expect a big win tonight. I also expect Rocha to be back with the card and his words of wisdom. If I don't pop in before wednesday, have a great New Years Eve. Don't over do it......but don't hold back either. IN OTHER WORDS, HAVE A GREAT TIME BUT DON'T DIE IN THE PROCCESS !

"Our next game is more important than the last, and that's the way it's going to be until the end of the year," Messier said

*Sigh*

Is it already that time of year again ?
