One Point In OT Loss
Monday - January 12, 2004
I missed large portions of the game....but I did see some. Simon looked to have freaked out and while he only revieved a double minor I expect our buddy Colin to suspend him for for a few. I did see the OT....and wish I didn't. It killed off the good feeling I had. Dunham was strong in his back to back start and the Rangers did not take the Bolts lightly nor did they seem tired. Well, unless you are thinking about after the game. Those who kill penalties were dog tired. The Rodent published a killer aricle yesterday but I missed linking it....check it out here. He also has a nice game recap found here. Let's look at the locals. Newsday - "He's lucky he only got four minutes," said Glen Sather, who sat Simon for nearly all of the third. "That could have cost us the game." Daily News - At least five of the eight minor penalties the Rangers committed were of the totally unnecessary and clearly punishable variety. NY Post - The point is to string victories together, not to get one at a time. The point is, what the Rangers did yesterday afternoon in losing a 2-1 Garden match to the Lightning was not quite good enough. NY Times - DAN BLACKBURN, the Rangers' 20-year-old goaltender, had the nerve damage in his left shoulder re-examined Friday. There has been a slight improvement. But he acknowledged the strong possibility that he would not play this season. The Journal News - "Can you see it? Can you see our system?" Holik said, receiving negative responses from onlookers. "Well, that's what I mean." Star-Ledger - "The guys who kill penalties stay in the game. There are a lot of guys who don't (kill penalties), and they sit there and they don't get to play in the game. It disrupts the flow of the game and we can't use everybody properly. At 5-on-5, we're a better hockey team than we are on special teams." In non-hockey news I have posted some words on WLIR in the Birdcage for your reading pleasure. ----}- Bird Posted by Bird at January 12, 2004 09:58 AMeMail this entry! Comments
