I don't think I need to tell anyone how important the next two games are. The Islanders tonight, The Devils on Thursday. Critical points. Mid pointr of the season. Fate hangs in the balance. Etc , etc. With a win over the Fishsticks Saturday and a well fought tie against the Bolts Sunday, the glass remains either half full or half empty depending on your perspective. The beat writiers seem pessimistic this morning (perhaps because of their car troubles) and are not afraid to let us know using literary devices.
The Journal News got this started this morning when Adrew Gross informed us that Simon's Play Exemplifies the Team's Lack of Discipline.
The Star Ledger -- Mike Dunham is a Metaphor for The Team's Inconsistency.
The Rodent -- The Season Is Like a Forrest Which We Are Now Leaving.
The Daily News -- Bobby Holik is Emlematic of The Team's Tendency To Talk a Big Game.
Newsday -- Brian Leetch Symbolizes The s Lack of Passion.
The Post -- Sather Is A Pun. Hey Sather F' You! (Larry is upset with Glen and hey, who can blame him?)
Anyway, I still hold out hope because I like to be crushed like a beer can against Purinton's head when the Rangers finally get eliminated mathmaticaly. But, regardless of how you feel about the season, you have to be pumped for tonight's game. All of The Ranger/Islander games this season have been excellent and I'm sure this will be no exception.
