Brutal
Tuesday - January 20, 2004

Just awful. Optimism was running high after Saturday night, two games later the Rangers got put in their place as likely non-contenders in this playoff race. The Bruins just wiped them out twice in 24 hours, there's no other way to put it. Add to this the news that Darius Kasparaitis is likely done for the season. Welcome to hell.

More bile and disappointment:

Only high point--literally--was seeing Maloney drunk between periods and even drunker on the MSG postgame. It being seventies night, I will say that Maloney was a corrosive, backstabbing force during that decade and beyond, and it was lovely to see him slur his words and generally sound like an idiot.
What is Sather thinking, going with Dunham? I don't know what's wrong with him but, as you rightly said, a number one goaltender he ain't.

If after 4 years Sather doesn't have even one single defenseman he can call up to replace Kasparaitis in Hartford then it is time to show him the road to Banff.
