Serenity
Thursday - March 04, 2004

Hockey Gods grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one shift at a time; Enjoying one game at a time;
Accepting hardships and loses as the pathway to the Cup; Taking, as hockey players do, this sinful game as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that someone will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy with this team and supremely happy with the New York Rangers, Forever in the next season.

Amen.

As they say "Whats done is done". And now that it is done, I have to say why did it take so long? Mainly because too many Ranger fans (me included) were living in a fantasy. Once Brian was at the core of a team that could impose it's will on other teams. That time passed long ago. Let's all face some facts. When your team describes itself as "fragile" something is terribly wrong. Something NEEDED to be done.

We can't live in the past any longer. This will force the team and it's fans to move on.

Gut wrenching as it is to see Leetch wearing the Leaf, I am happy for him. He will thrive with his new team. He will be rejuvinated and perhaps win another cup. That is good stuff.

As for us we will miss Brian...terribly. But, what we have gotten for him and the others will surley help us build...as long as the proper leadership is installed behind the bench and the kids are given the time to develope and grow together. If(and with Sather its a BIG IF) this happens then we will have a team we can all be proud of.
