Time Keeps On Ticking
Monday - March 08, 2004

It won't be long now.....with the deadline tomorrow we will find out soon enough who will stay and who will go.

Home grown stuff first....

The Rodent has a count down to the deadline.....and much good content to chew on, or leave in a cheek for later.

Heather reports on the day the Pack skated with the public....interviews and pics.

Fact or Fiction takes aim at none other than Mark Messier.

Newsday - The trade of Leetch on Wednesday was an even bigger blow. The two, roommates since Messier returned from the Canucks for the 2000-01 season, are inseparable. Leetch already has expressed some bitterness over his trade to the Leafs and, a person close to the Rangers said, likely would not consider re-signing with the Rangers if Sather is still in charge after the 2004-05 season.

Notes & quotes: Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi, of Syosset, scored his first NHL goal, had an assist and was plus-3 in 24:22 of ice time.

Way to go dude ! Congrats to Rob.

Daily News - And, free of charge, we offer this advice to any Rangers fans thinking of dumping their ducats for the March 31 home finale or April 3 season-ender in Washington: Think again, because those almost certainly will be the last Garden and last NHL games Messier ever plays.

NY Post has some....whatever. Somehow, I'm now pissed when Larry Brooks doesn't have an article....Congrats Uncle Larry, I'm a ......fan ?

NY Times - "I didn't sign up for this," said Holik, who left the Devils to sign a five-year, $45 million contract with the Rangers in the summer of 2002. "I haven't gone through that in my career. When I signed two years ago, I thought the team was heading in a different direction. It didn't happen. I'm going to have to deal with this. How, I don't know."

Journal News - "It's a tough game to play when people have been so good to you here," said the 30-year-old Barnaby, whose goal at 19:57 of the second period tied the score at 4-4 and was the 100th of his career. "I just took the puck. I'm really glad I scored it in a Ranger uniform."

Star-Ledger - Newest Rangers forward Jozef Balej, acquired in the Alexei Kovalev trade last Tuesday, finally joined the Rangers but did not play against Pittsburgh. Balej will practice with the team today and will likely play tomorrow in Atlanta

There is some footage of this kid schooling someone with a trick move for a goal that can be found on our boards....very cool stuff.

So, Mess won't go ? I'm on the fence here as I think if someone wanted him, and he had a chance to play for the cup...he should, for the good of the team as we'd get something in return as opposed to nothing. However, Daria gave me tix to the last home game at MSG on the 31st. I wouldn't mind seeing Mark in his last NHL contest.

Many thanks to those who stopped by the house for the DJ Bird records.....I'm very happy they are getting a good home.
