It Only Gets Tougher
Saturday - March 13, 2004
With all the yelling for youth and a rebuild I have to remind you of the old saying....be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. Last night's loss to the Tampa Bay club is just one of what will be many in the next little while. While we wait out the end of this year, wins will be few and that should extend into next year provided we have games to play. It's OK though.....it's part of the process. Deal with it because in the grand scheme of things the Rangers look to be headed in the right direction. If too many people cry about losing the rebuild may end.....and we'd go right back to where we were.....and we all know how that turns out. The Rodent knows what to expect.....go ahead, just don't try and pet him. He bites. Please don't forget to read the latest Fact or Fiction, Birdcage and On The Farm articles....with all the trade stuff you may have missed out on some good stuff. Newsday - The Rangers were completely overmatched by the Lightning. Daily News - "This is a big opportunity right now," Lundmark said. "With ice time, you have to show what you can do." NY Post - For better or worse - and lot of people outside the Senators organization who have watched Rachunek think it will be for the better - he is going to be a top-four defenseman on the next Rangers team, whatever year they play again. NY Times - "I was a little lost out there," Rachunek said. "It's going to take me a little while." Journal News - They play similar games, frequently joining the rush. But Brian Leetch is gone to the Toronto Maple Leafs now, leaving Tom Poti as the Rangers' lone offensive-minded defenseman. Now let's peek at some NHL stuff.... I'm not sure what to make of the Hasek story about him not taking money....something isn't right about this. The NHLPA can't be happy about it either. I smell something fishy....er, octopussy....um, well something stinks here. The fallout from the Bertuzzi incident continues with different opinions on the different facets of the story. Here's one that complains about the NHL's punishment being too soft. For me, as I posted on our message boards, this just sucks on so many different levels for my beloved sport. I love this game and it pains me to see it kicked around the way it has been....even if it is somewhat deserving of said kicking. Just for Rightbug....Barnaby scores in a win for the Avs. That sound you heard around 1am this morning was our own Melvin, whose team the Islanders finally won a game. Rangers - Panthers tonight in Florida. We had Hockeybird readers at last night's game....and we'll be represented at tonight's game too. Hockey 101 (from our boards) will be there but will have to follow the court order issued and stay 100 feet away from any Ranger player. ----}- Bird Posted by Bird at March 13, 2004 10:15 AMeMail this entry!
