Damn I Hate Them
Sunday - March 21, 2004

Of all the teams in the NHL.......with all due respect for their fans, I hate the Flyers. I was hoping during the game that we'd get at least one.....but it wouldn't go in. Hlavac hit the post with a wicked shot.....missed one or two others. Someone's put a curse on him for sure.

The Rangers play the Ice Chickens today at 3pm.

The Rodent reminds us that it's official, we're out of the playoffs. The ABC/ESPN guys did that enough yesterday.....but thanks for the reminder.

Newsday - "It might have been our best game [since the March 9 trade deadline]," Jagr said. "It's not easy to lose. I want to go out there, score goals and compete. I don't want to go out there and embarrass myself."

Daily News - The only Ranger opponents currently fear is Jagr. That is why he is now being shadowed by two or three opposing checkers all game every game.

NY Post - "You play 82 games to have a shot at winning the Stanley Cup, and when you don't get that chance it's very disappointing," said Mark Messier, himself on an unprecedented NHL run of seven straight years out as a captain, the first three misses coming in Vancouver. "It's very disappointing for all of us."

Post Again with more Ranger bashing.

NY Times - "More important to me was the effort, what the guys left on the ice tonight. The results are what they are. So be it. We showed up tonight." - Tom Renny

Now that's the attitude to have when you are rebuilding. I have always asked for effort and passion whatever the final score.....hopefully we'll get that now.

Star-Ledger - All Lundmark is looking for, at this point, is an opportunity to show that he hasn't lost the offensive touch that made him the Rangers' first-round choice in 1999. If the Rangers continue to go forward in their rebuilding mode, and avoid clogging up their roster once again with free agent signings this summer, then there is a chance Lundmark can win a first- or second-line job at next season's training camp. Lundmark would prefer not to wait until camp to show that he should have a top job right now.

Journal News - "I have really enjoyed Jags since he has been here,'' Messier said. "He has played hard and he has worked hard and has a great attitude. I think that's why it's important not to buy into the rumors and get a feel for things yourself.''

Journal News on the NHL - "I've always been a guy that's tried to live in the moment," Barnaby said. "I don't think it's fair to speculate. When I was a New York Ranger, I was a New York Ranger. But I don't think it's fair for anyone to speculate or think about it right now. I've never won a Stanley Cup, and that's my only goal."

We're still waiting to hear back from Matthew who's very busy these days.....and will continue to be busy in April, May and maybe even June.

With all the issues surrounding the NHL these days, why not jump on another ? Drug testing for the NHL.......it will happen one day.

Scott Cullen from TSN answers questions on the NHL, interesting read.

Here's an article that wanted to prove that no fighting in hockey would be good....but it didn't turn out that way.

Dave Shultz has an article in the NY Times.....yes, THAT Dave Shultz. It's on fighting in the NHL.....any guess which point he takes.....anyone ? I like him for the first time in my life.....but I'm sure it will wear off.

Finally, Time magazine has an article on the state of the NHL and the Bertuzzi thing. JD is quoted.

Let's Go Rangers !
