Spearing Moose
Monday - March 22, 2004

For those that watched the game.....bully for you. I did and enjoyed the Garth Murry goal but I'm still thinking about Messier spearing that Penguin. Sure, he was cross checked.....but he could have returned the cross check or dropped his gloves. Spearing is never acceptable.

First off.....Heather has a new On The Farm for all of you.

The Czechification of the Hockey Rodent is in full swing. I think he may convert......but he doesn't look Czechish.

Newsday (ap) - "I respect Mark Messier. He's a great hockey player, a legend," said Strbak, who scored on a 50-foot one-timer. "I don't know what happened. I just gave him a little push from behind. I can't understand why he reacted like he did."

NY Post - Garth Murray, who scored his first NHL goal, was particularly effective while playing the grinding game that should have gotten him a look earlier in the year.

Journal News - Umberger listed the Rangers, Penguins and Capitals — all rebuilding — as the best organizations to reach the NHL quickly. Umberger said Sather, in their first conversation six days ago, repeated at length his desire to rebuild the franchise through youth and not rely on signing veteran free agents.

I have other stuff to attend to.....but I do wish to let you know that we'll be giving away a hockey jersey courtesy our friends at Hockey Jerseys Direct to celebrate the NHL Playoffs. the contest will begin on opening night.....and the winner announced the night of the first Stanley Cup Final.
