Happiness Is A Trip To The Finals
Sunday - May 23, 2004
In my 42 years here on earth I have been fortunate to be a part of some very cool events. When I moved my family out of NY and down to Florida a few weeks ago I was sure that those kinds of events would be part of my past....not my future. WRONG. As luck would have it, I'm headed on a short trip to Tampa to see game two of the Stanley Cup Finals. Flames vs. Bolts......that's gonna be way cool. It's also cool that several Hockeybird readers will be going to the games. So, the Bolts win and the Flyers lose.....let's see what the papers say: "There was no better shot than this year," Roenick said. "That’s why it hurts so much." When it was over, when the clock had finally ticked down to zero and the season had officially slipped away, the Flyers - to a man - palpably sagged. It was as if they'd been punched in the stomach, all of them. "This," center Tim Taylor said, "is the best feeling I've had in a long time." "Yeah, we talked about playing for the Stanley Cup,'' Vinny Lecavalier said of the conversations he and Brad Richards used to have when they were prep school teammates. ``But back then, it was really just dreaming, you know.'' The Hartford Wolf*Pack moved one step closer to their own trip to the finals with a huge win over the baby Pens. Goalie Jason LaBarbera kept the Wolf Pack in it early and his teammates picked up the pace in a dominating second period on the way to a 3-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Saturday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals before 4,826 at the Civic Center. Heather has assembled some mail for you. I wonder how many of the 4826 at the game read this site. A few I'd bet. Larry Brooks is pissed that Bobby Holik is not on Team USA. You know what, I agree with him. What a shame. The man in the picture in the post below is my Dad....who is also going to game two of the finals. Man, I love this sport. ----}- Bird eMail this entry!
