Of course the game last night went into double overtime and the Bolts scored to force a game seven. But should the game have ended much sooner ? With about 7 minutes to go, a puck redirected by a Martin Gelinas skate appeared to cross the line by the slightest of margins. The NHL concluded that it was not a goal as there was not convincing evidence that it had crossed the line and play resumed.

First, discussions on the kicking rule which I have read around the net are moot. The puck was not kicked but redirected.....an allowable action in the NHL. Second, unless you are a diehard Flames fan the fact that there will be a seventh game should supercede any of this.

IMO: It's a goal. Period. Say, maybe Sutter was right and the NHL doesn't want them to win. Maybe the post-game parties began too early and it pissed off the hockey gods. And maybe, just maybe the puck really didn't cross the line. All I know is a little while after this post I will be driving 300 miles to Tampa. I still can't believe that I'll be attending a game seven. Too bad it's not the Rangers eh ?

Calgary Sun - "Obviously, it didn't go in, a good save by (Khabibulin)," Gelinas said after Tampa tied the best-of-seven Cup final 3-3.
