Welcome to Summer
Thursday - June 10, 2004
It's officially summer now. Hockey season is over, it feels like 170 degrees outside and front page updates to this website happen whenever they happen, like at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. There are a few mildly interesting items today, though. But first, if you haven't noticed it yet because of the site outage on Tuesday, check out Brian Leeds' great running commentary on Game 7. I read this one last night, an article from the Post on Mike Richter going back to school. The university is Yale and the subject of study is likely going to be philosophy, the combination of the two which requires him by law to start smoking a pipe and wear tweed jackets with elbow patches. Even in the summer. Even in the shower. It's the law. Martin St. Louis won the Lester B. Pearson award, which is the one that's voted on by his fellow players. The rest of the awards will be handed out tonight. Feel free to vote for your own winners here. The ceremonies will be on ESPN2 at 8pm tonight, but I think I'll pass. Usually it's a screaming bore and, as usual, there are no Rangers involved. Rumors were circulating this morning that the NHLPA made an offer to the league concerning the new CBA, but Bob Goodenow is denying it. - Rocha eMail this entry! Comments
