CBA (or lack thereof) Dominates News
Sunday - June 13, 2004
You can't really talk hockey now without the CBA thing coming up. it seems that clubs are putting team stuff on hold or firing personnel in preparation of a long layoff. Larry Brooks has this today - So perhaps McPhee is waiting for the new agreement before dealing with Ovechkin; perhaps those are the orders from Ted Leonsis, already among those owners to have fired people in pre-lockout lockdown. Seems somebody is a bit cranky today. Bill Lankhof writes that the US market has ruined hockey. Go ahead....read his column. Of course he forgets that the NHL has been financed by the US market since it became a real league. Of the original six, four were US based teams. Of course when did facts get in the way of a good anti US rant ? Bill gets the assclown of the day award. I'm getting a little sick of Canadian writers blaming the US for all that is wrong with the NHL. Look, I'm as pro-Canadian as it gets on this site but perhaps it's time I re-think my position. Then again, maybe Bill is just pissed that the Flames lost. Still, taking pot-shots at the city of Tampa is lame. More CBA stuff from the Globe & Mail. In case that's not enough....here's more. Ahhhhh, I can't take it anymore. Here's a recap of the Bolts season by Rusty, guest writer in the Birdcage. ----}- Bird eMail this entry! Comments
