You just wiggled your finger, that's wonderful.
Wednesday - June 30, 2004

Oops, sorry. It just happens, I have no control over it.

Update: I have posted an interview with David Singer of Hockeyfights.com and Darryl "Beef" Wolski, the promoter of Hockey Gladiators which is coming up this August in the Birdcage for your summer reading pleasure. Who loves you as much as us?

The Star-Ledger Has this from Don Maloney. "Until we have younger guys, who can go like gangbusters against the Islanders one night and still play hard the next night ... that is something that has frustrated our fans, and also our management, for years. Maybe it just took us a little longer to realize we should have done it this way."

Sounds to me like they get it. I am very excited about this. I mean if you were to take our concerns to Sather and co. and have them listen and truly understand then you would read things like this on a Wednesday in late June, "We have holes to fill, but we are not going to sacrifice the ice time of a young guy to do it."

Wow.

Now I don't believe for one second that sites like ours as well as all the other great Ranger sites (See: Outsidethegarden.com), all the posts and e-mails from fans like you had anything to do with this sudden wisdom....but it's nice to see it just the same.

Daily News - So the Lindros Era will end for the Rangers tonight at the same time that a new era in NHL free agency begins. Unlike past years, do not expect a flurry of signings tonight.

$10.5 Mil for Eric.....no thanks. To be truthful, I really have grown to like the big E. If he wanted to stay I love to have him.....but the big bucks would have to come from somewhere else. Sorry Mr. Lindros, nice knowing you. Take care of that head of yours and I wish you luck.

In the same article is this gem, "It was like a peewee hockey team coached by a father," Carl Lindros told the Toronto Star about the Rangers. "It was dysfunctional."

Hey Carl, why not just keep quite eh? Why not show some class like your son did.

Here's Uncle Larry with some words from the E-Train, "But I'm very thankful to have been blessed with the opportunity to have played in New York. It's a great city; a special place. The fans are great, as loyal as you can find. "When I look back, I wish things could have gone better from a hockey perspective, but I don't regret for one minute my time in New York."

Journal News - The Rangers' other unrestricted free agents include right wing Sandy McCarthy, defensemen Boris Mironov and Joel Bouchard and goalie Jamie McLennan. Of that group, Mironov has the best chance to remain with the Rangers. Mark Messier will also not have his option picked up, though that's more of a formality since the captain appears to have retired.

In years past July 1st would be a killer traffic day on Hockeybird. You guys would show up in the thousands to see who was signed and then hit the boards to comment about it. This year I have no such expectations. Oh, we'll still be here just in case, but we'll probably end up hanging out on the boards discussing whether to fold a J-9 off suit in the Poker forums.
