Free Agents

Be prepared for nothing to happen. Sure, we could be surprised but my guess is that we won't be. I think we'll see some signings today though and it will be players who understand the current climate and they'll sign for small bucks.

Will the Rangers be players? Well, they won't be used as in years past to jack up the numbers, that's for sure. I have heard a lot of speculation on fan fave Matthew Barnaby. Personally I would like to see him back and Matt told me he will talk to the Rangers. That doesn't mean he'll sign here......but we can hope, can't we?

The Rodent offers you some Baloney for lunch. Oh, he's a clever one that Rodent is.

Newsday - About the most the Rangers will likely do in the next few days is explore bringing back gritty forward Matthew Barnaby, who turned down a four-year deal from Colorado in hopes of returning to the East, and possibly Chris Simon and Martin Rucinsky, who both had terrific seasons before being dealt in the March purge.

NY Post - Matthew Barnaby, who rejected a four-year, $8.4M offer to remain in Colorado because he wants to play in the northeast, is expected to be pursued by Ottawa and Boston. The Rangers will talk to Barnaby, but he's not at all likely to return to Broadway.

Journal News - At 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, 18-year-old center Bruce Graham is the same size as the Toronto Maple Leafs' Nik Antropov, currently the tallest center in the NHL. Of course, he's a long way from joining the Rangers after being picked 51st overall in this past weekend's draft.

TSN gives us an overall look at the free agent market.

All this NHL talk could be a waste if there is no season.....so here's some WHA news. The Detroit Gladiators will play this October.

We'll try and monitor today's activities.....but really, I'm more likely to be playing some poker while glancing at the wire every so often. Wake me if something happens....OK ?
