As You Wish

Not much in the way of news today. The Rodent expresses frustration over Sather's ability to alientate talent ensuring that we'll never see the likes of Pavol Demitra, whatever the price we're willing to pay. Only one other article today, a quick wrap up of free agent happens in The Journal News, including a bit on Montoya: Meanwhile, the Rangers' top pick Saturday in the NHL draft, Michigan goalie Al Montoya, joined the team yesterday for day two of its developmental camp at the Madison Square Garden Training Center in Greenburgh. Montoya said he would likely decide within a week whether to return for his junior year of college or sign with the Rangers. Some people have been making comparissons between Montoya and the well read, erudite, Mike Richter. I offer the following Montoya quote to refute such comparissons: "One of the big reasons I'm here is to take it all in and see what it's all about.'' Compare that to this 1989 quote from Mike Richter: "You put you right leg in, you pull your right leg out, you put your left leg in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you something something something, that's what it's all about." I will restrain from profanity in expressing my hatred for that song but that's not the point. The point is that Al Montoya dropped acid with Mike Dunham and now has absolutely no idea of what's going on around him while Mike Richter was instrumental in the development of the Cassini Space probe. Pressed for comment, Hugh Jessiman told reporters, "I'm too sexy for this shirt." -- Rightbug Posted by Cliff at July 02, 2004 09:46 AMeMail this entry! Comments
damnit bug, you made me laugh again. that brings back SERIOUS flashbacks to training camp last year, jessiman lounging in the stands, sprawling legs and arms in tight jeans and mostly unbuttoned white shirt... where the hell was his surfboard?
