You know it's the middle of the summer when the re-signing of Dale Purinton is the topic du jour in Rangerville. Larry Brooks and I agree that Purinton's signing is more waiver draft protection than anything else, while these quotes from Dale's agent (and ex-Ranger) Tom Laidlaw might make it seem otherwise. Whatever. If Dale is still around by the beginning of the season and he earns a spot among the starting six with improved defensive play then bully for him.
Don't forget that tonight at 10:30 on MSG is part one of the 2004 edition of Blueshirts Inside Out. Last year's part one was an interesting show, a behind the scenes look at how the Rangers go about organizing for the draft, and I assume that's what this year's part one will be about as well.
Update: Having checked my e-mail after posting today's news, a belated thanks to Dave Nekoukar for sending me a reminder of the above show. Dave and Aziz do a good Rangers weblog over at the Star Ledger/NJ.com, one that should be in your bookmarks.
