Czech Fans Shocked
Tuesday - August 17, 2004
Just as the US lost it's head coach Herb Brooks, hockey fans in the Czech Republic lost Ivan Hlinka to a car crash. There are many similarities between the two with both having coached the Penguins in the NHL. But both achieved success on the world stage winning Olympic gold as head coaches. It's clear to me that Ivan's impact on the Czech hockey fan is equal to coach Brooks' impact on the US fan. Here's some words on the coach from Pittsburgh. The Rodent explains how this effects our favorite Hockeybird/Hockeyrodent contributor from the Czech Republic......our thoughts are with you Coat. Talks resume between the NHL and the NHLPA today. I'm not holding my breath for a deal......but it would be nice, no? We can at least see some NHL players in this "Original Stars Hockey League" thing. Of course there are no games in NY or here in Florida.....and I'm not sure they would be televised either. But it's hockey I guess. ----}- Bird Posted by Bird at August 17, 2004 09:11 AMeMail this entry! Comments
