The Rangers have now announced the Weekes signing. Unfortunately, "terms of the contract were not disclosed," but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. A one year deal would make sense. Three would be too many. Two? All depends on how the Rangers' Goaltender Kiddie Corps is coming along.
In less exciting news, the Rangers signed journeyman defenseman Jason Marshall yesterday. Nostradamus experts say this was a sure sign of the Weekes signing. Apparently, in one of his quatrains was written:
There will come a rearguard of modest talent to the city of the New
A well-traveled man of modest stature
Though his arrival will interest few
He who signifies the arrival of the goalie from the South
Really, he did. Even used the word "goalie," too, hundreds of years before it probably even existed. Sure 'nuff.
In World Cup exhibition yesterday, Canada beat the US 3-1 to pay them back for their 3-1 win earlier in the week. Supposedly Ty Conklin didn't look too sharp. And now yet another injury to the US defense, just a few days after Jordan Leopold had to leave with a concussion, this time Hal Gill and a broken foot. No word on his replacement yet. Perhaps the Rangers' Tom Poti, who did a pretty good job on the 2002 Olympic team.
There were labor meetings yesterday and there are more today. They're withholding comment until after today's meetings end.
And that, as they say, is about it.

Weekes are you kidding me. Our goaltending problem is Weekes enough. And now they bring this bum in. What are we doing?

Both were on garbage teams last season and the "bum" had significantly better numbers. Dunham was a disaster on a bad team while Weekes held himself together. That's definitely worth something.
