Slaps Shots and SNL
Sunday - November 21, 2004

In case I don't get the chance I want to wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving here in the US. As fans of the NHL we have little to be thankful for in regards to our sport. But life is much more than hockey (did I just say that?). I have many things to be thankful for and all of you are part of that.

Uncle Larry has his Sunday offering posted and the onslaught on Bettman continues. "Finally, public reaction against the players is understandable once one recognizes that when an individual attains a level of success in a reasonably high-profile profession, there will always be a large segment of the population that thinks he or she is vastly overpaid. There's always going to be a large segment of the population that insists it would be willing to do those same jobs for much, much less money."

I have asked some NHL owners for comments to balance Hockeybirds coverage but I don't expect that any of them will offer us any.....it's not like Hockeybird is on the list of influential places to get out your message.

The Rodent covers Jagr and his jokes as well as some leggy Ice Girls.

According to this Slam writer, Canadians are getting along just fine without the NHL.

On the flip side, Americans have reacted violently with fights and chair throwing....oh, wait.....those are NBA players and fans. Never mind.

Last night the band U2 took the stage three times on Saturday Night Live in New York. Vertigo, Sometimes you can't make it on your own and I will follow were all performed with a passion that is unique to U2. I hope you got to see it.
