There will Be No Hockey
Wednesday - December 15, 2004

There will be no games this year.

There may be no games next year either.

With no talks scheduled between the two sides I can see no end to the impasse. What a shame. I held out a little hope until yesterday. Now I have none.

Here's the Rodents take on things.

ESPN - What remains between them, a seemingly immovable object, is this notion of who is responsible for the future of the game. Perhaps the next step toward putting aside children's games is the public acknowledgement that this is the owners' mess and that it is up to the players to clean it up.

Uncle Larry continues to spit out good columns.

Slam has a slew of articles including one on how the Canadian Prime Minister would offer help but no one seems to want it.

Hasek is being sued. Whatever.

I give up.

The union should throw an across the board ticket price reduction at a certain percentage in their next proposal. THEN we'll see just how much "resolve" and "good faith" the owners are negotiating with.

I really enjoy your forum, Bird. Keep up the good work.
