No Hidden Agenda Here
Sunday - January 16, 2005
Here at Hockeybird we have not tried to hide where we stand on the NHL work stoppage. Our commentary has been clearly pro player and I believe we laid out solid reasons as to why. Our readers here (those of you who leave comments or post on the boards) are mostly pro player as well although there are a few who stand by the owners despite the various arguments put forth by our many pro player readers. It's interesting to read some of the writers on both sides of the issue. Larry Brooks and Al Strachan have been quite open in their reports and no one can be confused on where they stand. TSN as a whole has made it pretty clear where their opinion falls. Yet we all have one thing in common. We all want NHL games. For me, I'm no longer trying to convert anyone. I don't care anymore. Really....I know that's sad but it's true. Neither side is without blame and the PR crap is what it is, crap. Much like the recent US election while I have a strong opinion supporting one side, the name calling, mud-slinging and manipulation of information is just plain tiresome. I'm sick of it....sick of it all. No one looks good in this. So, I'm not covering it anymore. With no offence intended towards any reporters or either side in this silly war I will just ignore all of it. No more links to Larry Brooks bashing Gary Bettman. No more comments about how the NHL owners have lied about something. Nothing, nada. I can tell you that we should have a few interesting interviews in the next few days and some of the writers here will continue to publish articles on whatever they desire......but when I update the front page here at Hockeybird I am just not going to cover the CBA stuff anymore. OK? Fact or Fiction posted a new article earlier in the week, here it is in case you missed it. The BlueShirt Bulletin continues it's coverage and commentary. For the many Pack fans, go here for news and links. Oh, that reminds me. Heather is on a leave of absence from her On The Farm duties......anybody wanna write about the pack for us here at Hockeybird? ----}- Bird Posted by Bird at January 16, 2005 10:08 AMeMail this entry! Good on you for finally giving up on covering the hockey labour dispute. We have long since moved on up here around Vancouver. And it is the Canucks' fans who ought to be crying louder than most anybody: they had the best chance ever to get someplace in the play-offs and now look to be losing Naslund and others if the Bettman Hockey League resumes next year. Randal really got his point across. If your opinion as to what side you sit on is made up, that's a fine idea to quit with the CBA talk. Blogdom has had more than enough of it the past few months anyway. Posted by: James on January 17, 2005 02:34 AMPost a comment
