Greetings from rainy Florida.

Ok, I'll give you a few links to the recent CBA stuff in case you need to read about the continuing talks between the NHL and the NHLPA. I am pleased that at least they have been meeting and have agreed to more meetings this coming week. It's a shame that the two sides couldn't have had all these meetings a year ago.

Canada.com - "It's still a fragile environment but there's a sense the NHL lockout could finally be entering the stretch run and perhaps even end by Canada Day."

NY Post - "With the NHL conducting a series of experimental rules scrimmages this week in Toronto, the hope is that the league doesn't gimmick up the game to the point where it becomes unrecognizable to the hard-core base. There is, however, no doubt the NHL intends to provide an attack- and offense-friendly re-launch environment to better spotlight its talent."

London Free Press - "It's not going to happen overnight, but the feeling in both camps is that a deal appears possible in the next month or so although talks could still hit a snag."

There are a bunch of other links that say essentially the same thing. Lot's of meetings with more scheduled. I believe that the mindset of both sides is to somehow overcome all the sticking points one way or another. That's much better than the stubborn "my way or take a hike" attitude we had seen for most of this mess. That's a good thing, I guess.

Newsday - "A Reebok executive recently said the Rangers are the ideal team for Crosby, Reebok and the NHL. One NHL agent who doesn't represent Crosby said the league should take every step it can to place Crosby in New York, where the league hasn't had real celebrity buzz since Wayne Gretzky retired. "If they don't," the agent said, "then they're dumber than we all thought they were."

I guess Jagr, perhaps the best player in the game doesn't count for real celebrity buzz.

A trip over to the Blueshirt Bulletin is always worth while.

This may be old but worth looking at. Some in Canada think that NHL Hockey is dead. While I may disagree, the damage has been devastating.

Finally, my wife works for a real estate and development company and one of it's principals was nominated for "Woman of the Year" by a charity that raises money for Leukemia research. I attended a very upscale event with some of the more wealthy people of this area and was very pleased to be part of a night where $300,000 was raised. My wife's boss was in fact named "Woman of the Year" as her team raised the most money. Congrats to all involved.
