The fine points?
Saturday - June 25, 2005
The NHL and the NHLPA met every day this week in 15-17 hour clips, and representatives from each side indicated progress and a sense of urgency surrounding the negotiations. Both sides did give the customary warning that there is a lot of work still to be done. The sides will resume meetings on Monday in New York. There is also a report floating around that, should the league allow players to play in the 2006 Winter Games, the NHL might cancel the 2005-06 All-Star Game. This small article has a quote from Sidney Crosby about the potential NHL draft: "I don't know how they're going to decide (the No. 1 pick) and it doesn't matter to me where I go," he said. "I just want to play in the NHL. It's actually kind of exciting when you hear all the different talk on what they're going to do." What, you mean like how the draft will be fixed so you end up with the Rangers?? I found a disturbing yet humorous tidbit over at Andrew's Stars Page. He mentions that the Ducks' new GM Brian Burke told a Vancouver radio station that the sides had recently spent several hours haggling over the issue of player parking at arenas. Well we wouldn't want them to have to shell out that $15 bucks for a spot now, would we? Spector talks about NHL ticket prices, and says that fans might not be getting a discount just because payrolls will be lower. The Rodent is back with a two-part rant on what the Rangers might be up to once the business of hockey gets up and running again. If you are up in the Northeast, try to stay cool today. It is supposed to get up to ninety-six degrees up here. Ninety-six degrees and all I want is some hockey. Enjoy the weekend. HDH Posted by Jim at June 25, 2005 11:00 AMeMail this entry! |
