The sounds of silence
Thursday - June 30, 2005
Well, it is just another day in the NHL lockout. There is no news, and there are no comments. The mainstream media has even stopped reporting how long the sides are meeting daily. It seems that reporters have turned back to writing about things that may happen when and if the NHL resumes business. Bob McKenzie at TSN gives some good information on who might make an impact in the draft after what's-his-name. Spector has some player movement rumors. Alan Hahn at Newsday reports that the newly formed NHL competition committee will consist of both front office personnel and players. The committee will have the final word on rule changes and equipment. Bird is back in the Birdcage, where he talks about what the 'new' NHL needs to do to make it up to us fans who had to endure this mess. As for that 24-hour radio spot on WFAN 660AM in New York I mentioned yesterday, I found out that Lou Lamoriello will be on the show some time between 3pm and 5pm on Friday. Wayne Gretzky will also call into the show tonight. Bettman is expected to call in tomorrow, but a time has not been specified. I don't expect any great revelations, because it is a charity event, but I just hope that we get a little something out of the three of them.
