The NHL and the NHLPA are calling the L.A. Times report 'inaccurate'. TSN reports that sources on both sides denied that the sides had reached an agreement, and that an announcement will definitely not happen today. They do say, however, that the league had targeted this weekend as the wrap up, and scheduled a board of governors executive committee meeting for Monday in anticipation of delivering a deal. TSN also indicates that the draft lottery will be slightly weighted so that teams that have fared poorly over the last three seasons would have a slightly better chance at receiving higher picks. Perhaps the last remaining sticking point is the issue of what to do with the 2004-2005 player contracts. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports that the union is pushing to preserve those contracts. HDH Posted by Jim at July 07, 2005 10:13 AMeMail this entry! |
