Waiting for word
Friday - July 08, 2005
With reports and denials flying all around yesterday, the general sentiment among those who cover the NHL still appears to be that a new collective bargaining agreement is virtually done and that we should hear some sort of announcement very soon. As you have heard a bunch of times, they are going to keep quiet until every 'T' is crossed and every "I" is dotted. Some reports say that an announcement could come as early as this weekend, while others point to some time next week. John Dellapina of the NY Daily News writes that a deal is all but done, and that it has come down to the minutiae now. John says that every significant aspect of the CBA has been agreed upon. From the L.A. Times: A prominent sports marketing expert says that the reported cost-control measures should help bring financial health back to the league and enhance level of competition. The coaching moves continue, as the Blackhawks signed Trent Yawney to take over behind the bench. Some things are more important than hockey. Devils' coach Pat Burns has once again been diagnosed with cancer. We wish him and his family the best. He beat it once, he can beat it again. If there are any surprises today, we will be sure to jump in and let you know about them. HDH Posted by Jim at July 08, 2005 10:55 AMeMail this entry! |
