Six Hundred Pages
Monday - July 11, 2005
Since Gary Bettman cancelled the 2004-05 NHL season, the league and the union have met over 80 times. This morning they are meeting for the eighth straight day after putting in countless hours over the last week. What has all of this produced? Bob Mckenzie says that the new collective bargaining agreement, which has not been finalized, will be over 600 pages long. That is a ton of material that teams are going to have to read through and learn in a very short amount of time. McKenzie reports that Bettman will most likely wait to announce a deal until it has been proofread and fully executed by the parties. Gary will use today's executive committee meeting to update the members thoroughly. Sidney Crosby is hearing that there will be a deal this week, and he is excited about the draft. I can't wait until this is all over. It would be great to open up the papers and read about your favorite players or how your favorite team is being reconstructed. Soon, I hope.
